The Australian Music Prize will open again for entries in October 2009. If you're an Australian artist with an album's worth of original material released in the 2009 calendar year, you'll be eligible to enter. Keep your eyes peeled for details later in the year.

Eddy Current Suppression Ring wins The Amp 2008
 

Melbourne outfit Eddy Current Suppression Ring has taken out the Australian Music Prize for their 2008 album Primary Colours.

The announcement was made in Sydney on 20th March in front of a packed room of artists, media and music industry.

Eddy Current beat eight other Shortlisted artists to take home Australia's most prestigous music prize.

The Amp congratulates the band on its well-deserved victory.


And The Red Bull Award goes to...

This year's Red Bull Award recipient - In Recognition of Outstanding Potential - is Sydney artist Jack Ladder.

Jack Ladder took home $15,000 prize money for his 2008 album Love Is Gone.

Red Bull gives this award to one artist it deems has a bright future both in Australia and overseas.
